Marta Mucznik is a Senior European Union Analyst and expert at the International Crisis Group, where she leads advocacy and policy engagement with European Union institutions and member states. Her work focuses on European Union foreign, security, and defence policy, particularly in relation to conflict prevention, mitigation, and resolution. She specialises in the European Union’s response to the war in Ukraine and its relations with the eastern neighbourhood.

Marta brings over two decades of experience in European Union diplomacy, think tanks, and government relations, with a career that has spanned various geographic focuses, including transatlantic relations and the Middle East.

Before joining Crisis Group, she worked at the European Policy Centre, analysing European Union enlargement, foreign, and security policy, and commenting regularly on European geopolitics. She previously served as Advisor on Transatlantic Relations at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union, representing Portugal in council working groups and advising senior officials.

Marta frequently collaborates with Portuguese research institutions and has provided commentary to various international media outlets, including Euronews, the Hindu, BBC, Politico, and Newsweek.
