Carlos Leiria Pinto is currently the Chairman of Banco Português de Fomento. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and an MBA from Nova Business School, along with several executive education programs at Harvard and Wharton.

Carlos Leiria Pinto has held various roles in corporate and investment banking at Banco Santander, BNP Paribas, and Commerzbank. 

Carlos Leiria Pinto also served as Deputy Director of the Financial Supervision Department at Banco de Portugal, Executive Board Member at Banco Montepio, Chairman of Montepio Valor, and General Manager for the Andean Region and, more recently, for Brazil at IFC International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group.
