Ambition

The EurAfrican Forum exists to explore and promote the power of diasporas as a connecting force between cities, regions and continents, between cultures, companies and people. It is an action-oriented platform that aims to: Foster stronger collaboration between Europe and Africa – Better promote a shared green and inclusive growth – Uncover new business and social impact investment opportunities – Create synergies between both innovation models. African and European leaders from government, business and civil society, young entrepreneurs, activists, social influencers, NGOs and media, gather each year constituting the ‘EurAfrican Community Network’.

Under the theme “In Search for a Common Ground in a post COVID world”, the 2020 Forum will focus on common challenges and issues, will be sharing initiatives for sustainable solutions, exploiting synergies and promoting business opportunities with mutual benefits. In the first edition of the EurAfrican Forum, under the theme “Crafting Coalitions for Change”, prominent speakers debated a call to action for building trust between Europe and Africa and taking the opportunity to rebalance and promote the EurAfrican geographies and reinforce the diaspora networks. The second edition under the theme “Partnerships of Equal: Sharing Values, Sharing Prosperity” focused on a new approach for the relationship between Europe and Africa, changing the narrative for both continents to create an accountable, prosperous and sustainable future together. After two successful editions in Cascais, Portugal, the EurAfrican Forum will be held digitally in 2020 taking in account the common issues and challenges Europe and Africa are facing to build a common ground in a post COVID world.

Portuguese Diaspora Council

A non-profit private association, founded in 2012, by indication of the President of Portuguese Republic – also Honorary President – as well as of the Minister of State and of Foreign Affairs – Honorary Vice-President. The main purpose of the association is to enhance Portugal’s brand and international reputation involving the Portuguese diaspora of proven influence who keep most of their activity abroad and who have distinguished themselves in their field of expertise, namely in Culture, Citizenship, Science and Economics. The World Portuguese Network currently comprises 93 Counselors, spread over 26 countries and 48 cities, on the 5 continents.

Municipality of Cascais

Located west of the Tagus estuary, between Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean, the territory occupied by the municipality of Cascais is bordered to the north by Sintra, to the south and west by the ocean and to the east by the municipality of Oeiras. The Municipal Council of Cascais is the autonomous organ of this county and its mission is to define and execute policies in order to defend the interests and satisfy the needs of the local population. In this sense, it is incumbent on it to promote the development of the municipality in all areas of life, such as health, education, social action and housing, environment and basic sanitation, land use and urban planning, transport and communications, public supply, sport and culture, consumer protection and civil protection.
