José Manuel Fonseca

CEO, MDS Group

José Manuel Fonseca is CEO of MDS Group since 2000, a multinational company specialized in risk and insurance with a strong presence in the lusophone countries, being leader in Portugal, Angola and Top 3 in Brazil. He is also Founder and Chairman of Brokerslink, one of the largest risk and insurance distribution organizations in the world with presence in 126 countries and managing 40bn USD of premiums. Previously he has held board positions across the banking, insurance, and public sector. 

José Manuel Fonseca has been Board Director of CIAB, the American Association of Brokers from 2014 to 2017 and deputy President of FERMA, the European Federation of Risk Managers from 2004 to 2007.

Graduated in Economics from the University of Porto, holds a postgraduate degree in “Management Publique” from the IIAP (now ENA) in Paris.

In addition to these roles, he has been President of Casa da Música Foundation, Leixões Sport Club, and currently leads Casa da Arquitectura, in Matosinhos.

José Manuel was recognized as “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Republic.
