Sérgio Pimenta

Vice-President for Africa, International Finance Corporation, USA

Sérgio Pimenta is Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Middle East and Africa, responsible for all investment and advisory operations in the region with over 600 staff.

He was previously Global Head of Industry, Agriculture and Services Sectors, and Regional Director for East Asia and Pacific at IFC, based in Hong Kong.

Prior to joining the World Bank in 1996 through the Young Professionals Program, Mr. Pimenta worked in the Treasury Department of the French Ministry of Finance as well as at the Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) in Paris.

He holds a degree in Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Paris and a post-graduation from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées de Paris.

Sérgio Pimenta has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since 2018.
