Miguel Pereira Mendes
Business Development Manager, CJR Renewables, Portugal
Miguel Pereira Mendes is the Head of Business Development for Africa at CJR Renewables, a global service provider offering full EPC/BoP/BoS solutions in the renewable energy sector. Miguel is responsible for expanding the company’s pipeline of projects in the continent. His work focuses in developing business opportunities in utility scale solar, wind, and storage projects.
Miguel has built a strong understanding of the development challenges faced by Africa throughout his career. Prior to joining Green Venture, Miguel worked extensively on private sector development and economic research in Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC. At IFC, Miguel advised investment teams on relevant country risks and macroeconomic analysis to support investment projects in Africa and Latin America. At IMF, he has co-authored various chapters of the IMF’s Regional Economic Outlook in Sub-Saharan Africa in topics ranging from competition productivity and revenue mobilization.
Before moving to Washington DC, Miguel has served as Economic Advisor to the Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs of Portugal where he managed an economic diplomacy program to promote Portuguese exports abroad.
Miguel holds a master’s degree in international economics and international relations from the Johns Hopkins University – School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) with a specialization in emerging markets and has completed a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Porto.
