Frannie Léautier

Senior Partner and CEO SouthBridge Investments Tanzania

Frannie Léautier heads Southbridge’s investment activities. She has significant experience in asset management, development finance and risk management.

Prior to joining SouthBridge, Frannie held senior positions in prestigious international organisations.

She was Chief of Staff to the President and Group Vice President of the World Bank and Senior Vice President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). She held various positions at the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) including Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Special Advisor to the President before becoming TDB’s first Chief Operating Officer.

She held various positions in the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) Group, including Vice Chairman and Special Advisor to the Chairman, before becoming TDB’s first Chief Operating Officer. She also led TDB’s asset management business, including the recent launch of a unique product for trade finance in Africa. Frannie has extensive governance experience, holding advisory and executive positions on various boards including those of the United Nations Foundation, Orca Explorations, AZA Finance and ARC (African Risk Capacity) Ltd.

She is also a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Regional Consultative Group for Africa and has previously co-chaired the WEF’s Global Agenda Councils. Frannie Léutier has also held other advisory roles and served on the boards of MIT, the OCP Group, the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), the King Badouin Foundation of the USA (KBFUS) and the Nelson Mandela Institute for Science and Technology (NM-AIST).

She is the author of several books and articles and has taught at Sciences Po, MIT, Harvard and the University of Tokyo.
