Dr. Magda Robalo, is the Global Managing Director for Women in Global Health www.womeningh.org. Previously, she was High Commissioner for COVID-19 in the Office of the President and Minister of Public Health. For twenty years, she served at the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa, where she held the positions of Director, Communicable Diseases and WHO Representative to Namibia and Ghana, among other senior level positions. She is the Vice-Chair of the Ethics and Governance Committee and Alternate Board member of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She is a member of the WHO Global Expert Panel on Health and Emergency and Disaster Management and member of the Africa Public Health Foundation Council. Dr. Robalo is a Medical Doctor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a master’s in sciences degree in Epidemiology. She fluently speaks and writes Portuguese, French and English.
